The Cretan Association Of Greater Washington D.C. Nikos Kazantzakis Chapter previously named The Cretan Association of Washington D.C. was originally established under a corporate charter issued on February 28, 1938, by the Recorder of Deeds of the District of Columbia. After a period of inactivity, it was reestablished on January 14, 1965, and a new constitution was approved. This updated Constitution was adopted by the General Assembly of the Association on January, 1984.
The purpose of the Cretan Association of Greater Washington D.C. - Nikos Kazantzakis Chapter is to cultivate and maintain the continuous interest in past and present Cretan culture and traditions; to generate and promote Cretan culture; to develop local and national relationships with groups of similar and related purpose; to encourage mutual assistance among its members and to participate in philanthropic activities deemed worthy by its members.
